Natural resources occur naturally in the environment and are contained in every man-made product. Some are essential to human survival.  They exist as water, air, minerals, and living organisms. We and our natural resources are part of a chemical balancing system.  We have a right and a necessity to use all of our natural resources but at the same time we have an obligation to maintain the chemical balance in nature.  If we upset the eco system we could cause the extinction of the human race. Although we must protect the environment we must not get ridiculous doing it.

We can place pollution restrictions on manufacturing plants but it will take away their profits. So unless every country all around the world does it, the companies with the restrictions will simply move to areas where they are not restricted.  The companies who stay will go out of business because they cannot compete because of the additional cost.

So in the end, natural resources must be protected but at the same time solutions must include economic consideration for businesses involved.  Animals are needed for food and scientific development to save human lives.  Animal right groups cannot be allowed to stop the advancement of science but animals should be protected from unnecessary abuse. Plants, animals, and water are all renewable resources and should be used to their fullest capacity.

Many of the products we use today have adverse effects on the environment and can be replaced to prevent it.  But in our current society the economic system over rides the needs of the environment.  We can build devices that are energy efficient or use alternate sources of energy but at the same time they will hurt the income of powerful energy companies.  The need for profit prevents the development of these products.
