Imposed Morality
The main purpose of government is to serve and protect its people. Laws are meant to protect one person from hurting another person. This could be physical mentally, or financial. Sex and nudity are a natural part of everyday life but many laws put restriction on it or prevent it. People who view sex as something dirty have been allowed to influence our legal system. There is no reason to hide the naked body from another person or from children. Nudist communities already have proven this. There is no reason not to show sexual activities in movies or other media. There is no reason to outlaw prostitution or prohibit any form of sexual acts that do not harm other people. This is imposed morality, which the government has no right to legislate. It comes from misconstrued mental or religious beliefs. Everyone is free to restrain from having sex if they don’t want it, but they do not have the right to impose their morals on other people. People have certain rights to use their bodies as they please provided they do not hurt another person in the process. In our current society, everyone should be able to fulfill his or her sexual needs when desired free from legal restrictions. Not everyone is handsome or beautiful, which is necessary for the arousal of sexual desire. People who are not physically attractive or lack the social skills to find a partner may find it necessary to pay someone else for sex. This should be their right to fulfill their physical needs. Both people benefit from this union; therefore, the government has no right to make laws preventing it. Laws to prevent rape or forced sex are necessary to protect people from physical harm. Limiting sexual activities with children may be partially necessary but putting age limits such as eighteen or twenty one are also part of the imposed morality issues. As the body develops sexual needs and desires are a natural part of growing up and parents should have a certain amount of freedom to teach their children. Current society has made it difficult for parents to even talk about sex with their children.
