Drug Abuse

People have a right to do what they want with their body, but that right ends when what they do also harms other people. There are limits your body can take when absorbing alcohol or drugs.  When that limited is crossed your body and mind is out of control. A person who is affected by the misuse of drugs or alcohol can no longer function normally and may hurt or kill another human being.   In addition the person using the substance is putting themselves at physical risk.  People have a right to do what they want as long as they remain within the controllable limits.  There must be laws to protect people from those who break those limits.

Many of the drugs used to get high are also addictive.  Persons hooked on drugs suffer many additional consequences such as problems with work, school, relationships, and the law.  Drug addiction is a biological, physiological process. It is a progressive, fatal disease. In order for the disease to be arrested, intervention at a substance abuse treatment center specializing in addiction care may be required.
